Hacked, Sacked n Back

March 22nd, 2010

So I think that my hubby who is my web guru has moved my site to another server, because it got hacked.  As you can see, I’m back.

Those of you who know me, know that right now, we’re homeschooling, and hoping that some public school here in Petaluma will see fit to take my son back.  We had a health issue that seems now to be almost completely under control again, and now the pressing issues is his lack of friends his own age, which could almost be said to be as detrimental to his mental and physical health as the original health issue.

I just got him into Karate.  He was loving it.  I payed for a season ahead, then did the stupid thing thinking I was being smart in using reverse psychology.  I told him that if he ever wanted a little break for a day or so, to let me know.

I didn’t want to seem over-eager for him to stick to the karate, because I thot that that would alienate him from it.  It’s happened before.  So he started talking about not wanting to go, because I put it in his head.  I realized my mistake, and took the tack that winners don’t quit.  That worked.

So now he’ll have a small built in group of friends to invite to his b-day parties again.

And back to health issues, for the rest of us:  If anyone else is still having trouble w/ the current batch of colds/allergies that are hitting us so hard, keep in mind that if you use essential oils, to help you breath at night or help to dry your sinuses at night, you may wake feeling better in the am and need less meds. for congestion/sore throat.  It’s been working for me to an extent.

I can take a bit less sudafed during the day, if I’ve used my oils to keep my sinuses from dripping at night.  During the day, I also use something called Yin Chiao, which is drying too.  It’s an herbal tablet that I got from my accupuncturist, who practices Chinese Medicine here in Petaluma.  He gets the kind made here in Amer. though, because in the orient, a lot of meds are made w/ some pretty weird stuff, including the occassional few grams of lead for coloring.

Be sure to check into Yin Chiao for yourself, w/ your own nutritionist, or accupuncturist, before you try it.  I’d suggest that you check w/ your own doc, but they would rather sell you something more traditionally synthetic and costly.  They tend to pooh-pooh remedies that originated in foreign lands, and were not first studied by doctors here in Amer.  That may be because since those other remedies haven’t been studied here for an extended period,  Docs here just can’t swear to their efficacy.

For less synthetic solutions to your health issues, try seeing a Naturopath.  You’ll stay healthier longer, and need fewer visits to your non- Naturopathically trained MD.  Some Naturopaths are MDs.  If you want a great one here in Petaluma, try Kevon Arthurs.

If you want a really great Accupuncturist who is versed in the best of Chinese Meds made to FDA standards here in Amer, try Edward Shober.  He is also a fantastic counselor.

So to dry your sinuses, it’s essential oils that smell like trees or strong herbs.  For mucousy coughing, eat parsley.  To dry it all even more, I mentioned Yin Chiao.  Humidifiers are great too, as long as you stay on top of the mold issue, and keep ‘em clean.  You can even put a few drops of Essential Oil in the cup of the humidifier and get more bang for your buck.

If your nose/sinuses are congested, pinch your fingertips, if you want a reflexology borne solution.
