Giving Back

Thursday, July 8th, 2010

My very sensible, supportive, and loving husband has convinced me that my class series: The Integrated Life is best begun after the Winter Holidays.  I had to find another way to give back to the community for now, because that’s what I do.  It makes me feel like the super hero that I always wished I could be, growing up on Marvel Comic Super Heroes as I did.

(Many thanks to my idol Mr. Stan Lee Marvel).

At the same time, I’ve only just opened my doors in River House and really need to build up my clientelle base, because no one knows I’m there yet.  I found a way to do both.  I found Relay For Life on Face Book and Rivertown Revival as well and offered a $10. discount on my regular first time massage rate of $55.  for people who can show me a souvenier of their experience at either of these events, this year.

Please mention this to anyone you know that will be going.  If they say they heard it from you, you will get the same discount.  If multiple clients mention your name, you will get your massage for half price, whether it’s your first from Perfect Day Massage (Formerly Suzanne’s Hands) or not.

As usual, please call ahead to schedule: 707-762-3578

The Summer has already been pretty good to us, and promises to get even better.  I scheduled a KOA camping trip for this week, and we decided on a course of action that will net us the best part of the trip.  We’re going to stay just during our 2 scheduled days there, and go home for dinner and bed in the eves.

Pretty sneaky eh?  We can do that.  We live across town from our local KOA, and we don’t want to leave our dog lonely, and boarding her would be an expensive hassel.

Don’t pity us.  Learn from us.  Live your Summer your own way.  Make sure that it’s not just what’s usually done or expected by others, but that it really works to bring you closer as a family and makes you as comfortable and happy as you can be.

Our local KOA is worth this modification of our plans, because it has a pool, jumpy house, petting zoo, playground, etc.  All this will keep my son busy, (and away from the TV) and I can watch from the side lines and read a good book, or join in, as the spirit moves me.

You can bet on seeing me in the pool for at least an hour each day that we’re there.  I’m a Pices.  LOL.

Staying just for the days, was another brilliant of my hubby’s.  This saves him the work of putting up the tent, and helping to pack up the van, when he’s got a lot of other work on his plate right now.  Someone has to keep this family afloat, after all.

I’m only too glad to come home for his cooking in the eves, and to not have to feel that I’m burdening him with more work at the camp ground when he wouldn’t be able to get a lot of enjoyment out of it, because he really has to be able to come home and keep up with his software programming, when he can.

I also won’t miss being too cold in the mornings and evenings, and having to use the porta potty in a corner of the tent at night.

So I guess getting my son and myself out of my hubby’s hair for a good part of the week-end was my way of giving back to my husband because charity starts at home.  Wiser heads have said it, and I’ve come to realize the truth of it.

There’s a lot of giving involved in being a member of a functional family.  I learned a bit about what it would be like by living at home when I was young, and after that, I understood it even better from reading a book called:  Getting To I Do.

I would highly recommend the book to anyone considering a long term relationship.  It’s a sort of manual for the care and maintenence of the relationship.  Everyone needs one of those.  The divorce rate can attest to it’s needfulness.

I’m quite sure that if everyone read that book before getting involved w/ a partner, that the divorce rate would be cut at least in half.  I chose the word partner, because the book does take into account that not all marriages (only legal ones) are between members of the opposite sex.

If one person reads the book because of my recommendation, then I’m glad to have again, given back, and I will give a $10. discount (Reg. $55) to anyone who comes in for a massage and can give me a synopsis of the book.

Now, you can go find me on Face Book and check out my latest comments on the Relay For Life and Rivertown Revival Walls, etc.  Have fun.  Face Book is quite a hub for some on-line fun.  Just remember what ever you put there is very public.

Yours In Sevice
