Do SOME of the things your mother tells you………….

I am a commitment to healthful and joyful success, for myself and others………..still.  I said this once, a couple years ago, and meant it.  It was a sort of a mission statement.  At the time, I was trying to learn to apply new methods of doing business, in order to get new and improved results.  Sensible- Yes.  Easy- No.
I forgot to pay attention to the healthful part of that statement for myself, or maybe I paid attention to only one facet of my health.  I focused on the part of me, that like part of almost everyone else in this fast food society, wants to exercise more and lose the weight that we put on at holidays, and every time we go through the drive through, or get depressed, or nervous or overworked.  We have a million excuses.
We have at least 2 million really good reasons for needing to destroy our excuses.  Our children are probably our best reason, along with what they’re learning by watching us go through drive throughs and work too hard.  Our own happiness would be another really good reason.  If we’re not happy and feeling good, we can’t be expected to make others feel good.
Smile and the world smiles with you……..
This is all easy for me to say because my husband is the cook in the family, but I didn’t start this blog with the intent of extoling the virtues of home cooking, although it is cheaper and usually more healthful than going out.  I actually began this blog in order to call attention to what we might normally miss:  Supplements or vitamins.  I’ve found, recently, that while I can make time to take fitness classes that I like, I may or may not get there, depending on the state of my health, and this has been a horrendous season for colds, for my family.
I’ve also found that it’s much easier to fight off colds, or not get them at all, when I’m religious about taking my vitamins, and some other supplements.  I find it much easier to exercise when I’m not suffering from backed up sinuses, and a scratchy throat, and it’s much easier to feel better when I’m able to exercise, and that makes me a happier person, which makes me a nicer person at home, and a more clear thinking one at work.
I’m going to experiment soon, with another sort of supplement that has enzymes in it, that are supposed to do something for my digestive tract.  I’ll let you know how that works, in another month or two.
Something else that you may not know, is that multi-vitamins may say to take one a day on the bottle, but in most cases, you’re actually better off taking 2 or 3 through the day.
Always ask your doctor first.  Some supplements are completely bogus and the seller just wants your money and will say anything to get it.  It’s always good to get a screening for what you really need.  Your doctor can check your urin to figure out what you need.  I had this done, last year, which is when she told me that I was seriously C deprived, and when I rectified that, I began to feel much less fatigued, on a daily basis.  Vit. C is the great fatigue fighter.
So even though I scoffed at doing everything your mother tells you, in one of my blogs, this was one thing Mom got right:  Take your vitamins!
