Your Body’s Story
Thursday, December 27th, 2007I was thinking, Today, about the stories our bodies tell, or rather about one person’s story, in particular. This person was only about 5, and I was giving her a bit of a massage, in her parent’s home.
I carefully kneaded some little knots out of the little girl, working my way toward her feet. I picked up one little foot at a time, and was surprised at how tight the little feet were. The rest of the body had only given minor clues that there was something else that needed some real attention.
I guess you know what’s coming, but I had only just gotten to it myself. I took another look at the little plastic sandals under my massage table, and in a voice of mock horror, I demanded: Mitzy, (name changed) are you wearing too tight shoes?! She smiled and answered shyly, something about her sandals being too tight, and her Mommy was very glad to get the information.
Now that I have my own child, I realize how much our children don’t verbalize. I’ve begun closely watching his body language, and to ask him questions. They don’t always tell us or can’t when something is uncomfy or painful.
Everyone knows how important body language can be, but we aren’t always conscious of what our bodies are saying to others, or we think that we can make our body language lie or mask our true feelings.
What about when your body is in pain. Of course people can see that you’re in pain, ………….usually.
I saw a car drifting suspiciously in a lane on the freeway, Yesterday, and immediately assumed that the driver was drunk. It wasn’t until we were actually passing it, that I saw the handicapped sticker on the license plate. Do you wonder if your body’s language betrays you or lies about your true thoughts and feelings, when you’re in physical pain? It probably is.
What can you do about it? Here comes my shameless plug: Come see me. I will interpret your body’s true story, and then help you change it for the better, in a holistic manner.
Wishing you healthy and pain free Holidays!
